Premium cataract surgery · South Miami
A clouded lens doesn’t just need removing. It’s a chance to correct your vision in the same moment. Bladeless and image-guided, with premium lens options. Standard surgery is covered by Medicare and most insurance.

Why “premium” matters
Every cataract surgery replaces the clouded lens. A premium approach uses that same moment to choose a lens that also corrects your distance, astigmatism, or reading vision. The result: many patients end up needing fewer glasses than they did for years before the cataract ever formed.
How it works
The natural lens inside your eye starts out crystal clear. With age, its proteins slowly clump together and the lens yellows and clouds, like looking through a frosted window. That’s a cataract, and no drops or glasses can clear it.
The only fix is to replace the clouded lens with a clear artificial one. A premium approach uses that same moment to pick a lens that also corrects your focus, so you may leave needing fewer glasses than you have in years.

Dr. Raja confirms the cataract and measures the length and curvature of your eye to calculate the exact power of your replacement lens. Together you choose the lens type: a standard monofocal (covered by insurance), or a premium EDOF, multifocal, or astigmatism-correcting toric lens, based on how you actually use your eyes.
What you’ll feel:nothing. Painless scans, and a frank conversation about what’s covered and what’s an upgrade.
On surgery day, numbing drops keep you comfortable and awake. A femtosecond laser makes a tiny, perfectly round opening in the thin capsule that holds your lens, and gently softens and segments the cloudy lens. Work once done by hand, now guided by imaging for a more precise, gentler result. If you have astigmatism, it can be treated in the same step.
What you’ll feel: light and mild pressure, no pain.
Through a micro-incision (about 2mm, self-sealing, no stitches), the softened cataract is broken into tiny fragments with gentle ultrasound and suctioned away. Your eye’s natural lens capsule, the clear “bag” that held it, is left perfectly in place to cradle the new lens.
The folded artificial lens is slipped through the same tiny opening and unfolds inside the capsule, centering itself where your natural lens used to sit. It becomes a permanent part of your eye. It won’t cloud, age, or need replacing. The full procedure takes about 15 minutes per eye.
Many patients notice brighter, clearer vision within a day or two, sharpening over a couple of weeks. Dr. Raja checks each eye personally the morning after. The second eye is scheduled separately, so its plan can be fine-tuned to how the first one settled.

“Dr. Raja is an excellent doctor and has great bedside manners! Thank you Dr. Raja for restoring my vision to 20/20 the day after my cataract surgery. Would highly recommend him.”
“Very professional and very thorough doctor. I hadn't seen an ophthalmologist in years, having had LASIK 15–20 years past and not recognizing till recently how much my sight had deteriorated. He said I had cataracts but didn't necessarily have to have them removed immediately. He outlined complications in one eye. After trying corrective lenses and being disappointed, I came back to him and was delighted with the results of surgeries for both eyes. My highest recommendation.”
“Dr. Harish Raja is a true professional. He operated on my father, and everything went perfectly. From the very first moment, he inspired confidence in us — he was the only specialist who recognized that my father needed pre-treatment before taking measurements for glasses. That foresight and care made all the difference. Excellent treatment, compassionate care, and impeccable results. Highly recommended.”
