Who it’s for

Likely a fit if…

  • You’re 18+ with a stable prescription for a year or more
  • Your nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism is mild to moderate
  • Your corneas have healthy thickness
  • You want the fastest path back to a glasses-free routine

Thin corneas or a very high prescription? Dr. Raja may steer you to EVO ICL instead, and he’ll tell you why.

How it works

Inside all-laser LASIK, step by step.

First, what the laser actually does.

Your cornea, the clear dome at the front of the eye, is its most powerful focusing lens. When its curve doesn’t bend light to land precisely on the retina, you get blur: nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism.

LASIK reshapes that curve by a few microns, thinner than a hair, so light focuses where it should. “All-laser” means two lasers do everything; no blade ever touches your eye.

01
Before · Mapping

A 3D fingerprint of your vision

Wavefront sensors and corneal topography capture thousands of data points across your eye, not just your glasses prescription but the subtle, higher-order distortions unique to you. That map becomes the exact program the laser follows. No two treatments are the same.

What you’ll feel: nothing. You simply look at a target while the scanners work.

02
Step 1 · Femtosecond laser

A thin, hinged flap, no blade

Numbing drops go in and your eye is held gently open. A femtosecond laser fires rapid pulses of light to create a paper-thin, hinged flap in the cornea’s surface. Dr. Raja folds it back like turning a page. This is the step a blade used to do, now done entirely by laser for a smoother, more predictable edge.

What you’ll feel: firm pressure and a brief dimming of vision for about 20 seconds.

03
Step 2 · Excimer laser

Reshaping the curve, to your map

A cool ultraviolet excimer laser removes microscopic amounts of tissue from the layer beneath the flap, sculpting the new curve your map calls for. A tracker follows the tiny involuntary movements of your eye hundreds of times a second, so every pulse lands exactly where intended. This part takes only seconds per eye.

What you’ll feel: no pain, sometimes a faint smell from the laser. You stare at a blinking light.

04
Step 3 · Seconds

The flap goes back, no stitches

Dr. Raja lays the flap back into its exact original position, where it bonds naturally within minutes. No stitches, no bandage. The whole procedure, both eyes, takes about 15 minutes in the chair.

05
Hours later & next morning

Clear, fast

Vision is often usable within hours, with some haze and watering the first evening, normal as the flap settles. Many patients see clearly the next day. Dr. Raja checks your eyes personally at the day-one visit and gives you a simple drop and rest plan.

I recently had LASIK surgery performed by Dr. Raja and I couldn't be happier with the results. From the initial consultation to the post-op visits, the entire experience was exceptional. Dr. Raja took the time to explain every step of the process, answered all my questions, and made me feel completely at ease. The surgery itself was quick and painless, and my vision is now better than I ever imagined. I highly recommend Dr. Raja to anyone considering LASIK — truly life-changing!

I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Raja. Compassionate, understanding, thorough — overall an amazing ophthalmologist. I had been wearing corrective glasses close to 20 years. I was near-sighted with astigmatism. I had always wanted LASIK but I was always so scared. Dr. Raja made me feel very comfortable and explained the entire procedure from beginning to end. By the following day after LASIK I was seeing 20/20 in both eyes. Dr. Raja changed my life.

I think that Dr. Raja is an excellent, excellent surgeon with precision hand skills. I know the intricacies of the human eye — being a cardiovascular surgeon myself — so his tactile manual dexterity is bar none. I am very glad and grateful that he did my operation. He is an excellent surgeon and I highly recommend him.

Had LASIK with Dr. Harish Raja in July of 2022. Amazing service all around. Staff was very supportive (I'm a nervous patient in general). Doctor answered all my questions and was very responsive afterwards while I anxiously worried about my dry eyes — which he had noted throughout the process would be normal.

FAQs

Asked at every LASIK consult.

Does it hurt?

No. Numbing drops keep the procedure comfortable; most patients feel only light pressure for a few seconds. Mild scratchiness for a few hours afterward is normal.

Is all-laser really better than blade LASIK?

The all-laser (bladeless) method creates the corneal flap with a femtosecond laser instead of a mechanical blade, allowing more precise, customizable flaps. It’s the approach Dr. Raja uses for every case.

What about dry eyes or night glare?

Temporary dryness and night halos are common in the first weeks and usually resolve. If your eyes are already very dry or your corneas thin, Dr. Raja may recommend EVO ICL instead. Honestly, up front.

How soon can I drive and work?

Most patients return to work and driving within 24–48 hours. Dr. Raja gives you a personal recovery plan at your day-one check.

What does it cost?

You’ll get the full number in writing at your free consult, with financing and FSA/HSA options, and no pressure to decide in the room.
