Who it’s for

Likely a fit if…

  • You’re 21–60 with a high or very high prescription
  • You’ve been told your corneas are too thin for LASIK
  • You have dry eyes and want to avoid a corneal flap
  • You want a correction that can be reversed if needed

How it works

Inside the EVO ICL, step by step.

First, what an ICL actually is.

It isn’t a lens that sits on your eye like a contact, and it doesn’t reshape your cornea like LASIK. The EVO ICL is a tiny, flexible lens made of Collamer, a collagen-based material so biocompatible your body treats it as its own, with built-in UV protection.

It’s placed in the posterior chamber: the small space between your colored iris and your natural lens. There it works quietly, 24/7, like a permanent contact lens living inside the eye. Invisible, unfelt, and removable.

Measuring an eye, to the micron

Because every ICL is custom-built, the fit has to be exact. Dr. Raja measures the width of your eye (white-to-white), the depth of the chamber the lens will sit in, your prescription, and the health of your cornea’s inner cell layer. These numbers decide the precise size and power of your lens.

What you’ll feel: nothing. This is all imaging and drops, no contact with the eye.

02
2–4 weeks · Made for you

Your lens is manufactured to order

Your measurements go to the manufacturer, where a lens is made specifically for your eye. The EVO generation has a tiny central port (the KS-AquaPORT) that lets fluid flow naturally, which is why, unlike older ICLs, no separate hole-in-the-iris procedure is needed beforehand.

03
Surgery day · ~7 min / eye

The lens is placed, gently and folded

Numbing drops do the work; you’re awake but relaxed. Dr. Raja makes a micro-opening at the very edge of the cornea (no stitches needed) and injects the folded ICL, which unrolls slowly inside the eye. He then tucks its four corners neatly behind the iris, where it sits in front of your natural lens. Both eyes are usually done the same day.

What you’ll feel: light and gentle pressure for a few minutes, not pain.

04
Same day · Pressure check

A short rest, then a safety check

You relax in the clinic for a short while, and your eye pressure is checked to confirm fluid is flowing freely around the new lens. You go home the same day with a simple drop schedule and a shield to wear while sleeping for a few nights.

05
Next morning & beyond

Clear vision, and a lens you’ll forget is there

Most patients see clearly within 24 hours. Dr. Raja checks each eye personally the next morning, then again over the following weeks. The lens is invisible to others and imperceptible to you, and because nothing was removed or reshaped, it can be taken out or exchanged if your vision ever changes.

I recently had EVO ICL surgery with Dr. Harish Raja and I couldn't be happier with my experience. I was not a candidate for LASIK because my corneas were too thin, so EVO ICL was a great option for me. Everything went well, and the entire team made me feel comfortable from beginning to end. Dr. Raja was very knowledgeable, professional, and reassuring throughout the whole process. The surgery coordinator Suyapa was also amazing! She was so kind, and helpful, and made the entire process feel smooth and stress free. For anyone who is not a LASIK candidate or is thinking about EVO ICL, I would highly recommend Dr. Harish Raja and his team!

FAQs

Asked at every EVO consult.

Will I be able to feel the lens?

No. The EVO ICL sits behind the iris, in front of your natural lens. It isn’t attached to anything you can feel, and it isn’t visible to others.

Is it really reversible?

Yes. Unlike LASIK, which permanently reshapes the cornea, the ICL can be removed or exchanged if your vision needs change down the road.

What about night vision?

The EVO lens has a central port designed to support natural fluid flow and reduce halos. Some patients notice glare in the first weeks; most adapt quickly. Dr. Raja sets expectations honestly at your consult.

How fast is recovery?

Most patients see well within 24 hours and return to normal activity within days. Dr. Raja checks each eye the morning after surgery.

What does it cost?

It depends on your prescription and lens. You’ll get the full number in writing at your free consult, with financing and FSA/HSA options, and no pressure to decide in the room.
