After 45, your natural lens stiffens. That’s the whole story. RLE replaces it with one that focuses at every distance, permanently. And cataracts can never form.

Sound familiar?
Your arms got “too short.”The phone drifts further away every year. Still blurry.
+1.50 became +2.50.There’s a pair of readers in every room of your house.
Progressives made stairs weird. And screens. And the dashboard.
Night driving lost its charm.Glare, halos, squinting at exit signs.
It happens to every human lens after 45, and no laser on the cornea can fix a stiff lens. Replacing it can. That’s RLE.
The fix
The same technique as the cataract surgery Dr. Raja performs every week, done on your schedule, not a cataract’s.
The lens inside your eye used to flex to focus up close. After 45 it stiffens. That’s presbyopia, and it’s why readers keep getting stronger. A laser on the cornea can’t fix a stiff lens.
RLE removes that stiffening lens and replaces it with a premium artificial one that focuses at multiple distances. It’s the identical surgery as cataract surgery, just done electively, before a cataract ever forms.

Dr. Raja confirms RLE is right for you, or tells you it isn’t, then measures the length and curvature of your eye to calculate your lens power. Together you pick the lens that fits your life: a multifocal or trifocal for all distances, an EDOF for cleaner night vision, or a toric to correct astigmatism. The full price is written down before you leave.
What you’ll feel: nothing clinical, just painless scans and a straight conversation.
Numbing drops keep you comfortable and awake. A femtosecond laser makes a tiny, perfectly round opening in the capsule that holds your natural lens, and gently softens it. Precise work guided by imaging rather than done by hand.
What you’ll feel: light and mild pressure for a minute or two.
Through a self-sealing micro-incision (about 2mm, no stitches), the softened lens is broken into tiny fragments with gentle ultrasound and suctioned away. The clear natural capsule that held it is left perfectly in place to cradle your new lens.
The folded lens is slipped through that same tiny opening and unfolds inside the capsule, centering itself where your natural lens used to sit. It focuses light at the distances you chose, and because it’s artificial, it can never cloud into a cataract.
Most patients see well within 24 hours. Dr. Raja checks your eye personally the next morning. The second eye follows 1–2 weeks later, fine-tuned to how the first one settled, and your brain adapts to the new range over the following weeks.

Younger, with healthy focusing? LASIK or EVO ICL is probably your answer, and he’ll say so.
The money part
Your price depends on which procedure and which lens fit your eyes. You get the full number in writing at the consult, then you go home and think about it. Most patients combine monthly financing with FSA/HSA dollars.

“Dr. Raja is the best! A brilliant doctor who lets his patients know exactly what is going on in words we can understand. A wonderful surgeon also. Dr. Raja performed my cataract surgery. This was the best surgery I ever had and a complete success. We were lucky to have him in Massachusetts for a while. If I ever need eye surgery again I would fly to Florida.”
“Dr. Raja performed cataract and LASIK surgery with excellent results. Dr. Raja took time to explain my procedure and discussed several options at length. I felt at ease going into surgery. The EyeMed nurses and staff at their surgical facility were very professional. They took time in explaining all the steps along the way. Thank you, Dr. Raja, for providing excellent medical care. — B. Jimenez, R.N.”
“Dr. Harish Raja is a true professional. He operated on my father, and everything went perfectly. From the very first moment, he inspired confidence in us — he was the only specialist who recognized that my father needed pre-treatment before taking measurements for glasses. That foresight and care made all the difference. Excellent treatment, compassionate care, and impeccable results. Highly recommended.”
“Very professional and very thorough doctor. I hadn't seen an ophthalmologist in years, having had LASIK 15–20 years past and not recognizing till recently how much my sight had deteriorated. He said I had cataracts but didn't necessarily have to have them removed immediately. He outlined complications in one eye. After trying corrective lenses and being disappointed, I came back to him and was delighted with the results of surgeries for both eyes. My highest recommendation.”
“Dr. Raja Harish is awesome — his operating hands are like feathers. His mannerism is just wonderful. He explained what he was doing during the procedure and it was done so fast. I'm so happy I had him as my surgeon. The staff at Med Eye is kind and caring. Thank you so very much. I can see!”
“I think that Dr. Raja is an excellent, excellent surgeon with precision hand skills. I know the intricacies of the human eye — being a cardiovascular surgeon myself — so his tactile manual dexterity is bar none. I am very glad and grateful that he did my operation. He is an excellent surgeon and I highly recommend him.”

“I had the best experience with Dr. Raja. The wait was not long for my cataract surgery. Everything went smooth, well explained, in a very courteous way — and the office staff in the surgery location are the best!”
“I am extremely grateful for the treatment, surgery, recovery, and results from Dr. Raja. The change is truly impressive; words cannot describe the blessing of regaining my vision without any pain. I wholeheartedly recommend him.”

FAQs
Surgically, nearly identical: the same procedure Dr. Raja performs every week. The difference is timing. RLE is elective, done while you still see well, instead of waiting years for a cataract to cloud your lens. Bonus: once your lens is replaced, cataracts can never form.
Most multifocal-lens patients are glasses-free for daily life. Some still grab readers for tiny print in dim light. You’ll hear that honestly before surgery, not discover it after.
Multifocal lenses can cause halos or glare at night in the first months; most brains adapt within 3–6. Can’t tolerate any night artifacts? An EDOF lens trades a bit of near vision for cleaner nights. This is exactly why lens selection happens with the surgeon, not a brochure.
Most patients see well within 24 hours. Eyes are done separately, 1–2 weeks apart, so the second lens can be fine-tuned. Dr. Raja checks your eye personally the morning after each one.
A lifetime. It doesn’t age, stiffen, or cloud, which is why RLE patients never develop cataracts.
Depends on the lens that fits your eyes and your life. You’ll get the full number in writing at the free consult, with financing and FSA/HSA options, and zero pressure to decide in the room.
